Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the repair and maintenance of various types of heavy machinery, including tractors, skid steers, excavators, farm equipment, and other heavy equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all equipment operates safely and efficiently. Ultimately, a top-notch heavy equipment mechanic can repair and service even the biggest machinery with expert care.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in heavy equipment and machinery.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tractors, skid steers, excavators, and other heavy equipment for proper performance.
• Utilize schematics to understand complex systems for effective repairs.
• Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment.
• Conduct vehicle maintenance including brake repair, transmission service, and alignment adjustments.
• Repair hydraulic systems and perform suspension work as needed.
• Operate heavy equipment to test functionality post-repair.
• Maintain accurate records of all service performed and parts used.
• Consulting with other mechanics on smaller jobs.
• Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects while adhering to safety standards.
• Ability to work after-hours if required.
• Good communication skills.
• Generate service-related revenue
• Provide superior service to each customer
• Keeps records of work hours and parts utilized and work performed for each service call.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or similar role.
• Dealership experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools.
• Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and repair techniques.
• Experience in diesel engine repair, HVAC systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, and welding is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics for various types of machinery.
• Knowledge of OEM specifications for equipment repair is beneficial.
• Experience with farm machinery, tractor-trailer maintenance, and tire service is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Must be highly self-motivated

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 – $45.00 per hour
