John Apple, owner of Westchester Tractor, started the company in Goldens Bridge, New York in 1976. The company has been a New Holland dealer from the beginning and carries a full line of New Holland construction and industrial equipment. In the early years, the company concentrated on the Ford tractor backhoe loader and industrial tractor line. In the mid 1980s, the company expanded to include more construction equipment and later added ground maintenance equipment. Today, customers include excavating contractors, homebuilders, municipalities, golf courses, cemeteries, and homeowners in seven counties in southern New York.
John Apple has been in the construction equipment business since graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He has been active in professional associations, serving three years as president of the Metropolitan Equipment Distributors of New York, and chairing the North American Dealer Council for Ford Tractor in 1985. Apple and Westchester Tractor have also received numerous sales and service awards.
Today, Westchester Tractor has grown into a leader in the industry. After being in the same location for almost 20 years, and in Goldens Bridge for 30 years, Westchester Tractor has picked up and moved to Southeast, New York.
